Custom Marketplace Development for Multi-Vendor Platforms

Marketplace development is different from building a single online store: you need to onboard multiple sellers, split every payment between your platform and each seller, and moderate what gets published before it reaches buyers. At AISDC we build a custom marketplace — web and app — with automatic split payments, commissions configurable by category or seller, and a moderation panel to approve products, sellers, and reviews. We don't start from a generic plugin: we build exactly the business rules your multi-vendor platform needs.

How we work

1. Marketplace Model Discovery

We define whether your platform is B2C, B2B, or service-based, how sellers get onboarded, what commission rules you need, and what level of moderation each listing requires before going live.

2. Seller and Buyer Flow Design

We design seller registration and verification, the multi-vendor catalog, a cart that can hold products from different sellers in a single purchase, and the admin panel with the metrics your team needs.

3. Development, Split Payments, and Integration

We build the platform and connect split payments through Stripe Connect or Mercado Pago, so every sale is automatically divided between the seller and your commission, with no manual reconciliation.

4. Launch and Ongoing Support

We train your moderation team and first sellers, launch with active monitoring, and stay available for commission adjustments, new categories, and technical support.

What it includes

Seller Registration and Verification

Sellers sign up with their tax and payout details, and your team approves or rejects each application before they can publish. Define whatever documents or checks your industry requires.

Automatic Split Payments

Every purchase is automatically divided between the seller and your commission through Stripe Connect or Mercado Pago Split Payments, with no manual calculation or transfers from your team.

Configurable Commissions

Set different commission percentages by category, by seller, or by sales volume. The system applies the right rule to every transaction and keeps the breakdown available to sellers and admins.

Content Moderation Panel

Review and approve products, photos, and reviews before they go live, or after publication with reporting and takedown rules. Decide what gets moderated automatically and what needs human review.

Multi-Vendor Catalog and Cart

A buyer can add products from different sellers in a single checkout. The system automatically splits shipping, invoicing, and payment for each seller within one unified buying experience.

Seller Dashboard with Own Metrics

Each seller gets their own dashboard to manage their catalog, view their sales, their withheld commission, and their payout history — without seeing other sellers' data on the platform.

Use cases

Niche B2C Marketplace

Platforms that group sellers from a specific niche — crafts, local fashion, regional products — and need commission and moderation rules specific to that industry, different from a general-purpose marketplace.

B2B Marketplace Between Suppliers and Businesses

Platforms where companies buy from multiple suppliers with volume pricing, quotes, and per-supplier invoicing. Split payments and commission rules are built around business purchasing cycles.

Service Marketplace with Bookings

Platforms that connect service providers with clients, where every booking generates a payment split between the provider and the platform commission, with profile moderation before publishing.

Regional Marketplace to Replace Reliance on Third-Party Platforms

Businesses that currently sell only through third-party marketplaces and want their own multi-vendor platform, with full control over commissions, customer data, and moderation rules.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between a marketplace and an online store?+

An online store sells the catalog of a single business. A marketplace lets multiple independent sellers publish their own products or services on the same platform, each with their own catalog, payout, and commission. That's why marketplace development needs modules a traditional store doesn't: seller onboarding, split payments, and content moderation.

How do split payments work between the platform and sellers?+

When a buyer pays, the payment gateway — Stripe Connect or Mercado Pago — automatically splits the amount: part goes to the seller's account and part stays as your commission, based on the rule you define per category or seller. There are no manual transfers or reconciliation on your end.

Can I set different commissions per seller or category?+

Yes. The system is built around the commission rules you define: a flat percentage across the board, different percentages by product category, tiered schemes based on sales volume, or a combination of these. Each rule is applied automatically on every transaction.

How is what sellers publish moderated?+

We define the moderation level you need together: pre-approval before a product or seller goes live, post-publication review with user reports, or a mix of both. Your admin team gets a panel to approve, reject, or take down listings at any time.

Should I build a custom marketplace instead of using Shopify or WooCommerce with plugins?+

It depends on how specific your business rules are. Marketplace plugins on generic platforms work for simple cases, but they often fall short on complex commissions, industry-specific moderation, or integrations with Mexican invoicing. If your commission model or seller verification is particular to your business, custom development gives you full control from day one. At AISDC we evaluate your case before proposing any build.
